The western meals are different in contrast since they take protein as their main dish. Chinese people eat with chopsticks, for food that is solid, however for soups they have spoons. Desserts are eaten as snacks in between two meals, they are not a separate course of meal. The first course in a customary Chinese dinner consists of cold dishes. The ingredients used to prepare cold dishes often consists of salt, sugar, chili, powder, light soy sauce, and sesame oil. China’s regions are divided into different flavors of cuisine for each region. The preferred flavor depends on many things like geography, climate, agriculture and history of the place.
In the central and south China, the spice flavor is prevalent including Sichuan, Hunan, Yunan and Guangxi provinces. The reason for spice being a prime ingredient in their cuisine is due to the humid climate that persists in these regions. The chilies are used in abundance since it is believed that they improve healthy and comfort. Salty, sweet and sour flavors are also used in different regions of China, all these ingredients are known to have some health benefits and aid the human body in some way or other.
A multicolored diet
In Chinese culture, great emphasis is laid on achieving the right balance in the human body and a noteworthy feature in attaining that balanced diet is a well-rounded nutrition with a variety of colors. A diet that includes a range of colors is crucial in Chinese food and medicine. The colors are believed to have an association with body’s vital organs. That’s why most dishes are vibrant in color and excellent in taste as well.
