Are you going to visit the Indian Restaurant Terrigal for the first time? Well! Let me give you some friendly advice.
You will see your friends having their meal by:
Taking one bite of naan or any other bread type and then dipping into the food & gravy. This way with one bite they are going to have the taste of everything which is enough to delight the taste buds.
It means No. 1 rule to eat at an Indian restaurant is through the hands. For No. 2, you don’t have to be ashamed and let your hands get dirty while having the meal. We are not saying ‘Literally’ but just to taste the food better.
The traditional method of eating food
Use of forks and spoons can be done and it is good also. But, this is not when you are trying to have your Indian meal. It is better that you go with traditions to enjoy the food to the fullest. Do people still follow this method of eating food?
YES!
Many people still prefer to have Indian food with their hands. They say that, if they try to be formal and use the fork & knife then they won’t get to taste the food the way they like. You can think this way, ‘This is the way things are done and people enjoy doing it.’
Indians are attached to the roots
There are many parts in India, where hosts will not first prefer to put down the utensils but they will ask ‘Tum kitni rotiyan loge?’ (How many pieces of bread do you want?). It is just their way of showing love to the guest. The Indian host always makes sure to ask you to eat more and even mothers do the same thing. I still remember whenever my friend used to visit at my place in India, my mom would ask her to:
Mom: Beta aur le lo. Bs itna hi khayoge? (Dear have some more. Do you want this much only?)
Those were the good old times. I am glad that people still prefer the traditional method of having food.
Embrace the old ways
No doubt, people are slowly getting familiar with Indian food and now there is no going back. The mix of everything is what makes it perfect. What we meant is that when you visit the Indian restaurant you will get dishes from different parts of India.
In addition, the way they serve the food is even better. Silverware is something that takes everyone’s heart away.
Put the right amount of meal
Now, make sure that you put food in the right amount. Indians do not like when the food is wasted or you can say they think it is undesirable. If you think you won’t be able to finish it, then make sure that you first put in less amount and later you can add more.
So, order what you like and eat the traditional Indian way.
Enjoy!
