Sylvania India Restaurant, The love for Indian food is seen in every part of the world. This is the reason the Indian restaurant Sydney craze is not just among Indians but foreigners even want to try the Indian dishes.
Cooking with perfection
A few weeks back I visited Mumbai, India. I was surprised at the way Indian meals are prepared. Baked clay is used to cook the dishes, utensils are made from leaves, and wood & metal is present all over the kitchen. Only the native ingredients are used in the dishes. Along with the sharpness of chilies, potato starch. When the Indian cook meals it is prepared for the whole of the family or you can say it is like a feast.
Shraadha meal
Hindu families have the tradition of having shraadha meal (on the passing of someone beloved). The meal is prepared to feed off the departed ancestors of the families. All the recipes only have the ingredients which are found in the continent.
Some of the dishes which are prepared at home are stir-fried bananas, saat ramudu, or kuzhambu (mostly in the south). To get it done, there is the proper time needed as vegetables are prepared, snacks, and even desserts. Depending on which part of India you are in the dishes will be different.
Staple food item
- Some of the staple parts of Indian cooking are potatoes, cauliflower, peas, carrots, and tomatoes. Back in the 18th-century potatoes came to India. No matter which part of the Indian kitchen or restaurant you visit, you will find potatoes in a boiled, roasted, stuffed, fried, and baked state.
- Chilies and their love among the Indians cannot go away anytime soon. The Indian’s food palate is filled with chilies which helps in giving the meal a pungent taste.
- It is also believed that tomatoes are an important part of Indian curries. The tomato plant arrived in India from Southern America to Southern Europe, then England, and finally to India. This goes back to the 16th century. In the last 100 years, the red curry sauce has become extremely famous. If you talk about one of the classics then onion-tomato gravy will top the list.
Cultures and traditions are one of kind
Indians are rooted in their traditions and cultures. As here we are here talking about the shraddha meal, so there are certain items that travelers might not get to taste or see anywhere else. People also believe that following such rituals also helps in maintaining the balance with Indian cuisine. Maintaining the food traditions has been seen passed down to the generations.
Traditions are followed even after so many years
There are several religious rituals. One of the social occasions is a marriage where people come together and celebrate the 2 people getting married.
Moreover, many meals are still cooked in the wood fire and served on utensils made of silver or brass. For the shraadha meal, the pandit is served food on a banana leaf.
